Celebrating, connecting and contributing are each a part of our core DNA at The Refuge. When students contribute, we don’t want it to be just a volunteering of time. Our desire is for each follower of Christ to contribute to God’s mission through one or a variety of avenues we have available.
REFUGE 7:37 SUPPORT
Creative Team: You could say the Creative Team is made up of the tech wizards that run behind the scenes, and we’d agree. From musicians, to video gurus, to sound board geniuses, and even imaginative event planners, this team helps put Jesus on display each Sunday night.
Hospitality Team: The atmosphere at Refuge and in Common Grounds Cafe doesn’t just happen. The warm-hearted and grace-filled souls that make up our Hospitality Team are the ones welcoming at the doors, baking treats, and whipping up drinks for Common Grounds. Making the love of Jesus tangible is what this team is all about.
Serve Team: The hands-on go-getters are exactly what this team is made of. From setting up for Refuge, to offering extra help at special events, the Serve Team mirrors the humility of Jesus.
BREAKFAST UNDER THE BRIDGE
Part of our heart at The Refuge is for the gospel to bring about community transformation. For us, that starts with Breakfast Under the Bridge. One Sunday per month, a team of college students serves a hot breakfast to the underprivileged of Baton Rouge via BUB. Providing a hot meal may be caring, but nothing beats the love of Christ in rubbing shoulders and simply sharing life with people by conversation.
All volunteers can meet at Expressway Park at 8 a.m. Parking is available on the corner of S 11th St. and Myrtle Walk St. Stay tuned for more BUB dates.
Students can volunteer at Common Grounds by taking a two-hour weekly barista shift. Adults and students with a heart to serve can also bring desserts to Common Grounds once per month via our Dessert Team. If you’d like to serve as a barista, join the dessert team, or give to the mission of Common Grounds, send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Refuge is headed to Houston, Texas this summer for a cross-cultural experience on our week-long Parachute Projects. Houston is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world. We invite you to be a part of God’s mission by engaging with students, refugees, and residents in a cross cultural context to share God’s heart for the world. If you are interested in going, please email email@example.com for more information.
Fill out the form below, or email firstname.lastname@example.org, if you would like to be a part of any of these service opportunities.
